PLANS & PROGRAMS OVERVIEW

The 2045 Long-Range Transportation Plan is a comprehensive set of strategies aimed at improving the livability, sustainability, prosperity, and diversity of the Danville Area MPO through investments in all modes of transportation and in close coordination with land use planning.  Roadways are the most visible and productive component of our national, state, and regional transportation infrastructure.  However, those facilities demand constant monitoring, maintenance, and management to ensure an acceptable level of service for a growing region.

Public transportation in the United States is a crucial part of the solution to the nation's economic, energy, and environmental challenges- helping to bring a better quality of life.  Every segment of American society- individuals, families, communities, and businesses- benefits from public transportation.  Our region is supporting the growth of our bicycle and pedestrian facilities and the Danville Area MPO is working with local, state, and federal governments to ensure that walking and bicycling are viable transportation options in the future.

The Danville Area MPO realizes its work should consider the varying scale and diversity of communities across the region.  The MPO is increasing its efforts to blend transportation improvements and public/private investments so that they merge as seamlessly as possible into the community; and supporting the provision of mixed-use development so that transit, bicycle and pedestrian facilities, are viable options to the single occupancy vehicle.

Transportation Improvement Plan

A 5-Year Work Program

The Transportation Improvement Program (TIP) is a five-year work program that lists all regionally significant and federally-funded transportation projects and services in the MPO planning area.  The program includes projects for all modes of surface transportation including highways and streets, public transportation, and pedestrian facilities.

Long Range
Transportation Plan

A 25-Year Vision for Transportation

The Long-Range Transportation Plan is an update to the long-range vision for how the metropolitan planning area's surface transportation system will develop over the next 25 years.  The LRTP is the foundation of the transportation planning process.  The plan conveys the area's priorities and creates the overarching planning framework to guide future transportation decisions.

Unified Planning Work Program

An Annual  Planning Program & MPO Budget

The Unified Planning Work Program (UPWP) is updated annually to provide citizens and stakeholders the necessary transparency to see how federal transportation planning funds are being used by the MPO, local government and transit agencies, and the Illinois Department of Transportation in order to meet federal metropolitan planning requirements.
